Corn chips are a popular snack food that are made from cornmeal, which is mixed with water and then fried or baked until crispy. They are typically shaped like triangles or strips and are often seasoned with salt or other spices.

Corn chips can be enjoyed on their own as a crunchy and satisfying snack, but they are also commonly used as a base for dips and other toppings. Some popular toppings include salsa, guacamole, cheese, and chili.

One of the benefits of corn chips is that they are gluten-free, making them a great option for people with gluten sensitivities or celiac disease. However, it is important to note that many brands of corn chips are high in sodium and fat, so it is important to enjoy them in moderation as part of a balanced diet.

With only a handful of ingredients, this dessert is quick and easy to make and is sure to please a crowd. The recipe calls for two (9.5-ounce) bags of Frito corn chips, which are divided and layered with semi-sweet chocolate chips and a mixture of sugar, corn syrup, and creamy peanut butter. You can preheat the oven to 350 and cook for 5 to 10 minutes or just roll. It all depends on the texture you want. If you want extra crunchy don't cook. The bars are then refrigerated until firm and cut into individual servings.

  1. To make these bars, you'll need to generously grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter. Then, evenly spread one package of Fritos on the bottom of the dish and sprinkle one cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips over the top.

  2. In a heavy bottom saucepan, combine granulated sugar and light corn syrup and bring to a rolling boil. Cook for one minute, then remove from heat and stir in creamy peanut butter.

  3. Drizzle half of the sugar mixture over the Frito and chocolate layer. Add the second package of Fritos over the sugar layer, sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the Fritos, and drizzle the remaining sugar mixture over the top.

  4. Cook in the oven for five to ten minutes depending on how melted you like your chocolate chips. I cook for five minutes just enough to soften them.

  5. Cool for 20 minutes. Refrigerate until firm and set, then cut into bars and serve.

If you prefer a bit more texture, you can swap the creamy peanut butter for crunchy. Keep in mind that these bars are not completely solid, so when you cut them, expect them to break apart a little.
